MELBOURNE VIC | Residential

This project began at the concept design stage for a new home on a coastal block of land in Melbourne. The design brief was to create a residence that is both luxurious and understated, offering a retreat-like quality while responding directly to its unique environment. Set back from the coastline, the home is designed to embrace the site conditions and balance Melbourne’s contrasting seasons of warmth and cold, ensuring comfort and liveability year-round.

The architecture is responsive to its environment, with materials and forms selected to harmonise with the surrounding landscape. Rather than dominating the site, the home is designed to blend subtly into its setting, creating a refined yet grounded presence. Contemporary detailing and robust finishes ensure durability, while the overall composition reflects a timeless sense of elegance.

Internally, the layout has been planned to accommodate a variety of family lifestyles. Flexible spaces allow for entertaining, relaxation, and quiet retreat, while practical zoning ensures the home functions effortlessly for everyday living. Generous connections between indoor and outdoor areas create opportunities for year-round use, taking advantage of natural light, cross-ventilation, and carefully considered landscaping.

The interiors balance sophistication with functionality, integrating high-quality finishes and thoughtful design details that enhance daily life. The result is a home that offers luxury not through excess, but through comfort, adaptability, and long-term resilience.

This concept design reflects our studio’s expertise in delivering bespoke coastal architecture that responds to site conditions and client needs. It demonstrates how thoughtful design can provide a sanctuary that is both contemporary and enduring—perfectly suited to modern family living on the Melbourne coastline.
